Fresh pears nestled beneath a layer of comforting, golden-brown crumble, drizzled with velvety, sweet and gently spiced sticky toffee sauce.
Pear Crumble Recipe
Preheat the oven to 170°C (fan). In a large bowl, combine all the crumble ingredients and using your fingertips, rub them all together, until the mixture resembles coarse breadcrumbs and becomes sandy. You want the combination of small and larger clumps.
Peel and core the pears, then cut them into bite-size pieces. Combine with sugar and lemon juice, and transfer to an ovenproof dish (roughly about 1.2 litres in capacity). Scatter the crumble mixture over the pears and bake for 30 minutes, until golden brown.
To prepare the sauce, place the sugar, butter, spices, salt and half of the cream into a medium saucepan over a medium heat. Stir until the sugar dissolves, then turn the heat up to high and add the Lyle’s Black Treacle. Simmer it for 6-8 minutes, until the syrup has thickened, then remove from the heat and slowly pour in the remaining double cream.
Spoon the pear crumble into serving plates or bowls, pour over the sauce and some more double cream (optional). Enjoy!
