About
Get your day off to a roaring good start with these fluffy American pancakes decorated with fruit and drizzled with Lyle’s Golden Syrup for an absolutely golden breakfast!
Mix the flour and baking powder, then beat the eggs, Lyle's Golden Syrup and butter until smooth, and whisk in the milk. Make a well in the flour and gradually add the egg mixture, stirring all the time to make a lovely thick, smooth batter.
Heat a large non-stick frying pan, and brush with oil. Add a full tablespoon of batter, then repeat twice, leaving a little space for the pancake to spread.
Cook over a low heat for 2-3 minutes until small bubbles appear on the surface. Turn and cook on the other side until golden. Keep warm and cook the rest of your pancakes in the same way.
Once your pancakes are cooked, place one on a plate and take a second one, cut out the mouth and ear shapes using a knife (a round cookie cutter is helpful if you have too).
Assemble your lion’s face, adding banana slices and blueberries for eyes, a strawberry tongue, blackberry nose, chocolate whiskers and ear inners along with the all important satsuma mane.
Finish off your lion with a drizzle of Lyle’s golden syrup and tuck in!
