Fluffy American Pancakes

As much as we love our classic pancakes, we couldn't be more excited about these Fluffy American Pancakes. They truly are the perfect base of a delicious topping of Lyle’s Golden Syrup. Add your favourite additional toppings like banana, blueberries or bacon for a brunch classic.

300g self-raising flour

1 tsp baking powder

1 tbsp Tate & Lyle Caster Sugar

2 medium eggs

1 tbsp Lyle’s Golden Syrup plus extra to serve

300ml milk



  1. Mix the flour and baking powder, then beat the eggs, Lyle's Golden Syrup and butter until smooth, and whisk in the milk. Make a well in the flour and gradually add the egg mixture, stirring all the time to make a lovely thick, smooth batter.
  2. Heat a large non-stick frying pan, and brush with oil. Add a full tablespoon of batter, then repeat twice, leaving a little space for the pancake to spread.
  3. Cook over a low heat for 2-3 minutes until small bubbles appear on the surface. Turn and cook on the other side until golden. Keep warm and cook the rest of your pancakes in the same way.
  4. Serve with extra Lyle’s Golden Syrup and your favourite additional toppings.
