Packed full of protein and fibre, these homemade energy bars are the perfect on-the-go solution to a hearty breakfast on a busy morning. Start your day off right with these compact and tasty golden syrup berry bars. Once you’ve baked up a batch of these scrumptiously syrupy energy bars, they make the perfect breakfast bite, grab-n-go snack, lunchbox filler, or teatime treat. What’s more, making your own energy bars gives you complete control over the contents, so you can rest assured you’re only eating the ingredients you’ve chosen to include.

Follow these 5 simple steps for the perfect golden syrup homemade energy bars.

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 180°C, 350°F, Gas Mark 4. Line an 18cm x 28cm (7in x 11in) baking tin with baking parchment.

Step 2

Place the butter in a large saucepan with the 340g of Lyle’s Golden Syrup and melt together gently.

Step 3

Remove from the heat and add the milk. Stir in the oats, dried fruit and half the nuts and seeds.

Step 4

Pour the mix into the prepared tin, top with the remaining nuts and seeds and bake for 25-30 minutes.

Step 5

Allow to cool completely before cutting into bars.
