8 large sausages, fried or grilled until brown 1tsp soy sauce 2tsp Lyle’s Golden Syrup 225g/8oz puff pastry 1 beaten egg 1 tbsp sesame seeds 8 carrot slices 8 small triangular pieces red or green pepper |

Instructions 1. Preheat the oven to 220ºC/425ºF/Gas mark 7.
2. Place the sausages in a shallow dish. Mix together the soy sauce and Golden Syrup and brush over the sausages.
3. Roll out the pastry to an oblong measuring roughly 23 x 13cm/9 x 5in and cut into 8 long thin strips. Brush the strips with beaten egg and wrap around the sausages in a spiral, taking care not to stretch the pastry. Place on a baking sheet and tuck the pastry ends underneath.
4. Brush any dry pastry with beaten egg and sprinkle with the sesame seeds. Push a skewer through each carrot slice, then a sausage, with a triangular piece of pepper on the tip of each.
5. Bake for 10 minutes until pastry is golden brown. |
